Year 2

It's OUR World Now

At the start of the Autumn term in year 2, we completed some handprint activities that allowed us to think about what makes us both similar and unique. We used these handprints to show how proud we are to be together at Whitleigh Community Primary School. Take a look at the final outcome...

From A To B: Geography

In our Geography lessons, we have been learning about the natural physical and manmade features of our local geography and using this to design maps and plans. We learnt that new airports had to design the manmade features: runways, hangers, carparks and terminal buildings before an airport was built. We then designed our own out on our playground using chalk.

Respect - Resilience - Responsibility

In the first few weeks of term, we thought carefully about our school values and what makes Whitleigh Community Primary such a special place to be. We all wrote our ideas onto leaves to decorate the trees that are part of our school logo .

Maths: Addition and Subtraction

In our Math's lessons we have been learning how to use practical resources to add and subtract 2 digit numbers. We then used our understanding to add and subtract numbers with the column method. Take a look at the photo below. you can see how we used our understanding of place value to subtract.

Art: Pattern and Shape

This term in our Art lessons we have been exploring pattern and shape. We used our understanding to create colourful hot air balloons.

What patterns can you spot in our work?

Computing: Editing Photographs

In our computing lessons we have been learning how to take photographs and edit them to create some amazing effects. We have  used cropping and colour techniques to change them.

DT Mechanisms

In keeping with our Topic in the Autumn term: From A to B, we designed, made and evaluated propellers that rotated around a crank shaft. Take a look at our photos and see...
